Well, I've sent the emails and we'll (by which I mean 'I'll) see.

And did everyone see FFN's update on the rules? Yay!!! Death to Scriptfic! Death to Youfic! Death!!!

Of course, my category still has the ebil OT/MS fics (five on the Justin page today…I really must get reviewing.) to deal with. ::sigh:: It seems like there are a sum total of three plots in the category. OT, May/Brendan's journey, and ships. Sometimes there are stories (which are my fault, sorry) that are badly written angsty pokemon POVs. And that's about it.

Kill them. Kill them all.

And it isn't just my imagination. Or not entirely. If you jump back a hundred pages or so, while I won't exactly say there's an abundance of well-written stories, there's at least some variety.

Which I suppose is all the more reason to check over the next Unoriginality OT chapter, work on Ice, and submit a one-shot I've had kicking around about absol.

I think I'll also make up a list of alternative plot ideas. Kamisama knows we need some, and I have more than I can use.

I wonder if there will ever be a time when they put up rules against Mary Sue's? In the last couple of years they have been getting rid of the worst of the fanfiction types. The mary sue character could be next....
Is it just my imagination or is the Pokemon TV show also loosing quality? I know for myself anyway that I used to enjoy watching it but now its seems rather boring and repiditive. Perhaps the quality of stories is being reduced as the show itself is a bad example to young writers?

It's impossible to put up rules for marysues. They're too subjective. It's already a nightmare over ratings in violence and sex.

And it's not your imagination. If you watch early and late episodes, or check episode guides, the pokemon series has had more and more filler episodes over time. It's contradicted itself over and over again just to make up a new one-shot plotline for an episode. Ash, who used to have a personality, became just Generic Good Guy #3. Misty and Brock were cutouts acting out a single gag and otherwise just cheerleading.

Yes! I've noticed that too. :P They need a new scriptwriter. (maybe you can fill in an application, farla. ;) )

And what is a Youfic?

(But yaaayy for scriptfic death!)

I'm pretty sure a Youfic is a self insertion. If you really think about the title self insertion, it's pretty fitting. REALLY think about it, whoo fanfiction orgasms x_x Interactive fics that have people submitting their characters ususally have the author self inserting themselves as well.
To me, most script fics seem equivilant to posting little pictures made up of ascii characters. Actually, I think I might prefer the ascii art because occasionally it's pleasing to look at.

Youfic's self-insertion, but it only refers to the kind that involves saying "You are a beautiful girl named _____"

Ascii art also takes more effort than scriptfic. Although I guess that's true about everything.
